At first going the speed in the city. 29 MPH the car shifts very hard. Or kicks. Yesterday it lost power I notice the A/C was on I turned it off. And the lights in the cluster came on check engine and the lightning bolt. I get to work turn off the car and the lights go off. Today I turned off the A/C and it dropped power again. I go to AutoZone to check the issue. No they don't check it due to COVID. I come back home and turned off the car. Turned it back on and the check engine light was on. Help me please.
Thank you

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, we suggest you have a CAN scan performed to check codes stored in your vehicle's computer. A CAN scan will check all the systems on your car including the check engine light and transmission issues you mentioned. Here is a tutorial showing what is involved in performing a CAN scan:

Once you have this scan performed get back to us with any code numbers that are present and we can then properly diagnose any and all issues. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

We are going to have to start with checking for codes so if that parts store would not check them, can you check around to find out if there is another store that will do it? If not, we need to look into a code reader so that we can find out what the possible issues are.

However, I would start with checking the engine oil. These 2.4L are known to burn oil and when they do, they can cause different issues including stalling with no warning.

Clearly we need to start with codes and go from there so let's do what we can to get those first. Thanks
