Hello. I just wonder how many temperature sensors there are on my vehicle? I have replaced two of them. One of them I replaced twice before learning there was a second one when I replaced the head gasket. So now, since there are more than one, I wonder how many there actually are on the car? The error code is saying the voltage is out of range.

Good evening.

There is only one temperature sensor for the computer control system. There is a temperature sender unit for the gauge but that has no effect on fuel controls.

What is your issue?

My issue is getting the engine light to go out. The error code says temperature sensor voltage out of range. I replaced the sensor in the thermostat housing twice (O'Reilly's warranted it and replaced it free). Then when I replaced the head gasket, I found the second sensor, which does send the signal to the gauge, because the gauge started working after I replaced it. But I cannot get the engine light to go out. I have cleared the code multiple times with my scanner, and the light will not go out. But the only code it is showing is the temperature sensor voltage out of range. Probable wiring problem?

First, clearing does nothing. Once you repair the issue, the light will go out after three trip cycles on its own. That is a confirmation of the repair.

What was the code?

The fact the light came back immediately, tells me it is a wiring issue.
