Where is the temperature blend door actuator located?

My HVAC system is blowing cold air. No heat. Everything else switches like it's supposed to on the dash, except the button switch from cold to heat. I am trying to make an exact location of this temperature blend door actuator. My suspect location is behind the glove box. If this correct and if so, will I avoid having to completely remove the dashboard? Is there a reset on this repair? If so, how is it to be done step by step?

Hi,

First, there isn't a reset for the air mix door actuator. Also, I suspect, based on the problem's description, this vehicle doesn't have dual climate control. So, there should only be one actuator. See pic below for the location.

As far as replacing it, there are two systems. If you do have dual climate control, let me know which side isn't working. This system doesn't require the removal of the dash unless it is for the passenger side. If you have a manual control single temperature control unit or the passenger side with dual climate control, it is a big job. So let me know.

Pic 1 below shows the location of a standard single control unit. Pic 2 shows both actuators on a dual climate control.

Pic 3 shows the directions and what needs to be removed for the standard type and the passenger side of a dual climate. Note that the removal directions of the dash are more extensive than what is shown.

Let me know which one you have so I know what needs to be done.

Take care,

Joe

Okay, I don't have dual climate control. From the sounds of it I'm glad I don't have that option on this vehicle. So, from your diagrams I only have one behind the glove box. Topside.
Is this correct?

Hi,

Actually, if it is a single-control design, it is the one that is difficult to replace. It is at the top of the HVAC box. The only easy one is for the passenger side actuator on a dual climate system. I have no idea why they need to design things this way.

I attached the directions below. Step 1 indicates to remove the heating and cooling unit. So, starting with pic 2, the directions for the unit removal begin. Note that the steering column also needs removed as well as the engine coolant and AC refrigerant.

As I mentioned, this isn't an easy one. If you are not comfortable performing different things, you may want to consider having it done. However, I'll be here to help if needed.

Let me know your thoughts, if you have questions, or if I can help in any way.

Take care,

Joe
