Question for the geniuses. And, I mean it.

My car has run on 10W30 mineral oil for every change since brand new. Most recently, I have decided to switch to synthetic oil, for the first time ever, which the technician told me was due for the next change 6500 miles later (as opposed to the regular 3500). However, a colleague of mine says that I should do an interim one-time change at 2000 miles after switching, but only this one time to get the motor accustomed to synthetic. Is this true, or not? I do not want another oil change so soon after paying extra for synthetic!

Thanks so much.

I have never heard of that before just change the oil to synthetic and change it like normal.

Thanks, So, to confirm, you mean I can change it in 6500 miles, which seems to be the norm for synthetic?

Yes that is correct. Technically you can go 7500 with synthetic. But 6500 is also good if you want to be cautious.

Thank you so much for using 2CarPros if you have any further questions please feel free to ask!
