Is it possible to swap the drivers door module between a 2011 Challenger and a 2013 Challenger? If so, what would be required to do it? Would I need to "flash" the ECU?

If the part numbers are the same then you can swap them and you will need to get the module initialized. It should cost about $130.00 at a shop. Below is the door module location.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

If replacing driver door module and smart key from a newer car to an older model does the BCM and ECU have to be replaced as well?
A 2011 DDM and RKE Fob would be replaced with a 2013 model.

When replacing any part of the management system such as a door module or smart key you need to have the parts initialized. We are working with AllData and should have an APP that will do just that very soon until then you will need to have a shop do it for you it should cost about $130.00.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Sorry for the confusion. Like any computer when you replace parts such as a graphics card it must be initialized, the same goes for cars now, think of it as one big computer. Most electronics must be reintroduced when replaced. The APP I was referring to will be a home version that will do the reprogramming (initialization) from AllData which we are testing now, is not ready yet but will be soon. In the meantime you will need to have the job done at a shop should cost about $130.00.

Hope this clears things up, please let me know what happens. Ken

When replacing drivers door, would it be easier to just keep components of recycled placement door from a auto parts place onto car and initialize modules etc, to my car? Or to remove components from recycled door and install my working door components into shell?

If the components from the original door are not damaged I would use these.

And does RKE Fob need replacing if door handle needs replacement? And does both the keyless entry Fob and DDM both need to be replaced if the handle is broken? On outside of drivers door. But the inside door latch/handle is fine.

Hello, I am Danny.

To answer your question, no, the RKE fobs do not need changing if replacing the outer door handle. The outer door handles are purely mechanical in function to open the doors manually. The RKE fobs are electrical using the BCM (Body Control Module) for control. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

If the DDM from the 2013 added to my 2011 as well? And also the outer door handle. What is required to integrate fob into my 2011 Challenger's system? What exactly would be required at a shop to perform this task?

And would this be easier to implement if my 2011 required a replacement outer driver door handle but all original internal components in door were fine including key fob, than to switch out the handle, DDM and RKE fob from crashed 2013 Challenger into my 2011 Challenger?

Hello again.

Yes, it would be easier to just replace the outer door handle for your 2011 and using all the same internals. Otherwise if using the 2013 components and fobs it would require a relearn procedure. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
