Happened on the wifes van the other day, was bout 85 F so not hot yet, she was on the hiway and it started surging. I have looked it over, haven't seen or smelt anything burning. Took it to advanced auto parts and they put a code reader on it, and there was no code for the engine what so ever. Thought bout plug wires, speed sensor, ecm or ignition module. Just don't want to spend money or time on the wrong thing. Anyone know what this is? Thank you.

First, check actual fuel pressure as if it is low it wil cause this condiion.

Have the cat converter back pressure checked as well for a clogged cat converter

the torque converter will do this as well in the trans but usually codes when it fails.
