Hi,

My Tribeca overheated and broke down in Yellowstone last month and to make a long story short...under warranty they tore down the engine and didn't find any issue with the headgaskets, but found that the oil cooler failed. Now a month later the issue has happened again and they are saying it may be the piston sleeves? What is this? What would the repair typically be? Is this a known problem for Tribeca's of this model year?

Hi there,

So i can't see why the liner or sleeve can cause this problem, i would want to know the exact issue that has arisen for the mechanic to come to this conclusion, frankly i feel that they are grasping at straws and just want to sell you a new engine. Mark (mhpautos)
