1997 Subaru

I put alot of money into a 97 subaru but my check engine light comes on I rember the mechanic saying its an emissions prob I even put a new gas cap on to make sure. I came across my hanes manuel and noticed I was missing my vapor canister along with the hoses. I just wanted to make sure if my model is suppose to have it. It a 97 subura legacy L sedan.

The system is desigened to keep vapors from escaping. Your car should have one.

On my 97 subaru legacy L sedan where is the vapor canister suppose to be located. Any diagrams on the web I can find of it

The vapor seperator is located behind the trim panel in the trunk area on the drivers side near the rear fender.

I was told the vapor canister on my subaru legacy L sedan is located behind the trunks trim on the driver side. I took some of the trim off that was near the head lights is located more up than

A way to trace it is follow the line going into the throttle body and trace it back to the canister.

There are only two possible places on a 96 and newer suby for the purge canister, one is under the hood, passenger side just adjacent the radiator. The second spot and where yours should be on a 97 is behind the rear wheel, passenger side, tucked up in the rear fenderwell it is accessed under the car without removal of any panels
