Steering problem
1999 Subaru Legacy 4 cyl Automatic 122450 miles
My power steering belt came off and my battery light and brake light came on is it ok to still drive the car without the pwer steering belt?

HI there,
You can drive the car with out the power steering it will just be very heavy to steer, if this belt also drives the alternator, you will get a flat battery very quickly, the best thing to do is get the belt replaced ASAP then you wont have any problems.

If it drives the alternator you can take a chance with the battery w/o accessories being on if the battery has an open voltage of 12.8volts for an 1 1/2 hr. Then its over with its time to walk.
