Engine Performance problem
1987 Subaru Justy Two Wheel Drive Manual n/a miles

This problem is most noticeable after the car has been driven for about 20 minutes or so. When I take off from 1st gear, I will give it gas and it just hesitates and sometimes even stalls completely unless I push the gas pedal slowly and get the RPM's up around 3000.

Then getting the car started again will sometimes take a while of cranking. Also in the mornings I will have the same problem, about 10 seconds of cranking before it gets started.

I have changed the O2 sensor, fuel filter, pick-up coil inside the distributor and the plug wires and cap are fairly new. Also the plugs look quite clean.

Oxygen sensor
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
