I replacing the rear windshield wiper arm. I removed the nut which holds the arm to the shaft, but have been unable to remove the broken arm.

I've tried applying "liquid wrench", tapping the arm with a hammer to "loosen" and even prying the arm off with a claw hammer.

Hello, we have a 2002 forester and the wiper arm rusted off and fell off the other day, leaving the stub attached to the motor.

I sprayed on WD40 a couple days ago and sprayed on more today. I removed the nut but couldcnot pull the wiper arm stub off as you mention.

I checked for anything maybe holding it on like a tap screw or something like that but didn't see anything.

I have a set of jaw pullers and put one of those on and that popped it off right away. Where the wiper arm sets on the screw the screw and the inside of the wiper arm have small grooves so that it holds in place when turning.

The jaw puller puts 3 "hooks" under the wiper arm and has a central turning point which goes on the screw where you took the nut off. It then pulls the arm away from the motor using the screw as the leverage point.
