Noises problem
1998 Subaru Forester 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Manual 198k miles

car has been making exhaust noise and after a 2 hour drive on the freeway it lost a lot of power when I stopped after that it was all I could do to get it to move for a few hours after it cooled down it drove fine but still had exhaust noise. I didnt want to take any chances so I left it there and got a ride with a friend. Could this be a cat. Conv. Problem? Oh and there was never a check engine light.

Based on your description, that would be the first thing I would check. Disconnect it to see if the power returns. Also, it isn't uncommon for the muffler to get plugged.

I have actually seen them get loose inside. As a result, they move around, plug and then unplug causing the car to lose power at different times. You will hear it rattle inside if you tap it with a rubber mallot.
