Stop engine light

I noticed that once I pressed the brake the message reads stop engine and the triangle is permanently on red.
We have checked/scanned everything, yet nothing came up as error.

What did you use to scan it? There are codes that can cause problems like this that will not show up on a scan tool other than a factory level unit. Being that it came on when you stepped on the brakes I suspect it may be related to the ABS system, however that should also turn on the ABS warning light.
When you turn the key on do all the warning and information lights/messages work? ABS, brake, check engine and the rest?
