This is one of two things most likely. One, either the engine is overheating and the coolant is boiling over and the steam is the coolant burning off the hot engine. The second is you have a coolant leak somewhere and when it gets hot, the coolant is getting burned off and it steams off.
Either way, we need to start with checking the coolant and make sure it is not low. If it is we need to top it off. Second does the temp gauge show the engine is hot or does it actually overheat?
