Someone said it is the BCM

Changing the door actuator in my truck that I have gotten out of a junk yard. It was not the exact same match but the same wire colors. In the process of cutting the wires and attaching them I shorted out the big orange wire which I thought was hot, I guess it was not. Anyway assured the wires out and now my windows and radio do not work. I checked all fuses tried everything. Also, to start my truck now I have to turn the key to the on position to get out put the fuse in attach the battery cable get back in the truck turn the key to the off position and it cranks. Then I turn the key on position and drive when I get out to shut it off and pull the battery cable off. Someone said it is the BCM. I have a new one coming. I wonder how I get it programmed? I have no idea. Do I have to go to a dealer? There are so many issues here. Someone help please.

Yes it does sounds like the BCM is shorted out you will need a shop to reprogram it for you should cost about $130.00.

Here is the location of the BCM so you can get it replaced.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Thanks for the information. I got a used BCM off Craigslist but it came out of the same model truck the BCM actually is working so far but I have a few codes coming. I am going to have to get it reprogrammed. I know I like passenger side airbag and stuff like that. A few more codes but as far as driving and starting is doing great compared to the other board, that took the other bored out, and actually has a scratch on the eye on the board. Where it is at messing up I think that is where it the problem is. I do not know if I can get it repaired or not. Thanks so much for the information.

It sounds like you have found the problem. Once the BCM is reprogrammed the truck should be good to go.
