The airbag light stays on constant. No blinking, what could be the problem. The dealership won't replace the passenger and driver airbags per a recall until they find out why the light is on.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

There are several things that can cause the light to stay on. However, without using a scanner, you can access diagnostic mode to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes that will tell us the problem.

Here are the directions. You need to follow them exactly for it to work. Please keep in mind, there are some problems that will not show up using this technique. However, most will. Try this and let me know what you find.

DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (AIR BAG)

Trouble Diagnosis without CONSULT

DIAGNOSIS MODE

NOTE:
Diagnosis Mode can not be entered if a malfunction is not detected in User Mode.
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. After AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn ignition switch OFF within 1 second.
3. Wait more than 3 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 two more times (3 times total).
5. Turn ignition switch ON.
SRS is now in Diagnosis Mode. See: A L L Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( DTC ) > Manufacturer Code Charts > Flash Code Index.

Let me know what you find.

I thank you very much for your reply. A professional Innova scanner showed me in nine trouble codes. The codes indicated the vehicle was in a front-end collision. The scanner after speaking today to Innova factory engineers stated that the scanner should be able to clear all SRS solid on dash lights and codes but it did not. Running the scanner completely through the procedures stated the codes were successfully erased. In the end I'm sending information to Innova engineers to determine why the codes were not erased with their high-end professional scanner.

Please see a photograph of the scanner I used. We are going to figure this out eventually. What are your thoughts? Innova states the scanners can successfully remove all SRS trouble codes and turn off the SRS red colored dashboard icon.

Welcome back:

I'm not familiar with the scanner you have. What codes did you find? Also, did you try the self diagnostic procedure?

If you can't get them to erase, try this: Disconnect the battery and zip tie the two terminals together and allow them to stay that way for about twenty minutes. That should drain the power from any capacitors in the system. See if that allows you to reset the light. Also, if there is a problem, the scanner may not be able to reset the light if repairs are not made.

Let me know.

Joe,

I performed the capacitor power drain drill with no good result. Light still glowing strong! AutoZone and Amazon sell the scanner. Check out the manufacturer web address below:

https://www.innova.com

I thank you for your time. I sold the car as is and fully disclosed the issue with the new owner/buyer.

Thank you,
Bob

Welcome back:

It looks like a good tool. However, I'm sorry to hear you sold it. You know, since draining the capacitor didn't help, something was broken at one point or another. Did you check the clock spring in the steering wheel?
