I changed the odometer gears, so the odometer is working fine, but the speedometer still won't work.

The needle's not stuck or anything because when I bring the speed up to about 40 mph, the needle will jump from 0 to about 70 on the gauge. I also changed the speed sensor and that didn't make any difference. I'm not sure where else to look.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Welcome to 2carPros.

Was it the output shaft speed sensor that you replaced? Also, are you sure all wiring to the rear of the instrument cluster is in good shape, tight, and not corroded including ground? I attached a picture of the sensor responsible for the speedometer just to confirm we got the correct one. Also, I will need to know if this problem existed prior to repair of the odometer.

Let me know,
Joe

Hi,

I attached the first two steps of the diagnostic trouble shooting procedure. I will need to know what you find when you get to the end of the second pic below so I know where to lead you next.

Let me know if this helps.
