Slave cylinder

After installing the transmission the clutch pedal wouldn’t go down. So I was told to check the slave cylinder. I did and it was bad, I have replaced it but now I am having trouble getting the clutch to keep pressure. I have bled the slave cylinder multiple times but it won’t stay with pressure. I know it’s engaging a little because I can start the truck with out the truck surging forward but the clutch is real weak. Says to leave the cap off and press the clutch in and out 20 times or so or until the clutch gets tighter but it doesn’t seem to ever do that. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,

Did you replace the clutch master cylinder as well? Also, are there any leaks?

Let me know.

I was told to take the cap off of the clutch reservoir and pump the clutch 15 to 20 times or until the pedal gets tight. I did this but it never got right. I loosened the bleeder valve and had my son press the pedal 4 or 5 times and then hold it in, there was fluid coming out pretty good as he was pumping the pedal but it still didn’t make anything better. The pedal seems to get a bit stronger when I pump it with the cap on the reservoir but still not engaging enough. I got it to go into reverse and 1 st but not easily because it not engaging fully.

Try having him press the clutch, then you open the bleeder and allow pressure to release, then tighten the bleeder and then release the clutch pedal. Do that a couple times until no air comes out. See if it makes a difference.

Let me know what happens. If that doesn't work, I suspect the clutch master cylinder will need replaced.

Take care,
Joe
