The timing chain broke last week. Replaced timing chain and truck drove great for two days. Driving to work this morning the truck just shut off. No engine light, I am getting fuel and spark. Battery is good. Had it running a little while ago but when the temperature got in the middle of the gauge the truck shut off. It cranks but won’t fire.

Hi,

When it stalled and wouldn't start, did you check if it was still getting spark? What you described sounds like a typical crankshaft position sensor failure.

When they start to go bad, heat adversely affects them causing the vehicle to lose spark. When they cool, they can work again.

Take a look through this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you experience:

Also, I need you to try something. If you have spark and it still won't start, check to see if it starts for a couple seconds and then stalls using starting fluid. If it does, fuel isn't getting into the engine. You may have fuel pressure, but the injectors may not be firing.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe
