My check engine light came on, so I went and got a diagnosis and said transmission component slipping and evap vent solenoid valve control system. So, I checked the transmission fluid, and it was over the fill line, so I thought maybe it was pressuring the transmission. I bought all the fluid and an anti-slip. When I was taking off the pan from the transmission the shift cable was in the way and when I took it off, I broke the clip from the mount. My gear shifter would go from park all the way down to my first gear, but it wouldn’t go back up into park. So, I bought the whole new shift cable and installed it. Now my shifter is completely limp and won’t catch any gears. So, this morning I went and bought and installed the shift interlock solenoid but I’m having the same problem. My gear shifter just moves up and down freely without gripping on any gears. It also drained my battery and I’m assuming it’s because since it won’t go into park the car won’t shut off right even if my keys are out.

Just to be sure what is happening, when you move the shifter, the handle just moves like it is not connected to anything?

If the cable is attached to the range sensor on the side of the transmission but not moving it then your cable it out of adjustment.

I am attaching this process below.

However, we also need to make sure the transmission fluid is not overfull. So here is a guide that will help with checking to make sure this is what we did and then I would service it and fill the unit properly:

Please see the process below and let us know what happens.

Thanks
