After any sharp braking or sometimes sharp turning, the car will have a loud clunk noise. It sounds like a brake line snapping or other dire condition. I thought the problem was solved when the motor mount was replaced. However, it returned after the brakes were used aggressively when someone pulled out in front of my husband. Fortunately, an accident was avoided but the clunking returned. The clunking used to subside after a few times of being driven with the typical turning, braking and shifting from park to drive. However, not this time. I've read that there are issues with an Engine Cradle? I realize this car is a 2004, but I would like to keep it for another 2 years.

This should be inspected at a tire and alignment shop. They're experts at finding the causes of noises and clunks. Common things are lower control arm bushings and upper strut mounts. Neither of those things are safety issues by themselves, but they can lead to handling problems that can be a safety concern.
