I need to put sealant around the car's A/C drain hose, but it is right above the heat shield. I got a JB weld black gasket sealant. It is 500 degrees. I just was wondering if I needed a better sealant there that would be safe to use.

Hello,

The A/C drainpipe is usually fitted to the vehicle floor using a rubber grommet.
Exhaust temperatures at the heat shield are unlikely to exceed 150
200 degrees C.
The sealant you are planning on using will be up to the job.

Cheers, Boris
