1997 Saturn SW1 Manual 165400 miles

I purchased used Saturn SW1, 1997 model and 165400mils on odometer. Recently the light is staying on by showing "Check engine soon". Can anyone help me out in this regarding. Do I need to stop using the car?
Is it a major problem to the car?

Hi there,

this is visual warning that there is a set fault code lodged in the ECU, you will have to get a scan done to read this code, post the code her for further assistance, you can keep driving the car.
