Interior problem
1999 Saturn SL2 Automatic

I brought my car in to get the exhaust checked out because it was making a very loud noise. They told me that the noise is coming from a crack in the middle pipe. However, they said that unlike a normal car, my exhaust system is all one piece rather than a front pipe, catalytic converter, muffler, etc all being distinct pieces. They told me I have to replace all of it as it's one piece. When I googled my car's exhaust system, though, I found a site for saturn parts and they're selling all of the exhaust parts for my model separately, which leads me to believe that they can just replace the middle pipe. What should I do?

Most likely your resonator is cracked really common for that car.So is you resonator cracked if it is then i would just replace the resonator. On your car they have the front pipe with the cat. Then they have the resonator then you have the intermediate pipe which is between the resonator and muffler. Then you have just the muffler itself.I would just replace what you have to.I hope this help's.
