When vehicle warms up and goes through the shifting sequence the tranny will downshift at about 40 mph to a lower gear and the rpm's hit around 4000 or so. The vehicle will not upshift unless you stop the car and start going again. Have changed fluid and filter with no success to the shifting problem. No loud or unusual noises before this happens also no rough shifting just seems to downshift and stick in the lower gear. At my wits end please share any info as I am lost. Thanks oh I have turned a few wrenches in my time so not afraid to get down and dirty

To get the check engine codes to flash in your dash panel, use a jumper wire or a paper clip and connect terminals A and B of the diagnostic connector. Turn your ignition key on with engine off and the codes should start to blink. All codes should start with code 12 which is one long flash followed by 2 short flashes. This code 12 means the diagnostic system is normal and will repeat itself continuously if there are no trouble codes. Otherwise, code 12 will flash 3 times before flashing the fault codes. Iam not sure if u can get transmission codes this way but give it try and let me know what codes u get.
