So if the a/c isn't on does it knock in gear? Also can you hear any squealing noise like the belt squealing when you hear the knocking and hit the gas and it goes away?

The belt is new and its like a knock from the engine or
transaxle. No if the ac is not on it does not make the nosie in gear.

Your going to have to be under the hood and listen for the knocking noise while someone start's the car and put's it in gear with the a/c on. It sound's like it's the belt tenisor or the a/c compressor knocking.
