Hello,
I have been trying for some time now to find a replacement for the front passenger lap belt in my car. The stitching near the buckle has pulled out over the years, and is now to the point where it would not work properly in a crash. The current belt is in two parts; the automated, mechanized shoulder belt that attaches to the roof near the door, and the retractable, non-mechanized, side-buckle lap belt.
Every replacement belt I've found has either been a 3-point belt which would require completely replacing the entire belt set-up (not something I care to do), or a 2-point belt with a center buckle which would not work with the side-buckle set-up I currently have.
My question is this: Should I continue looking for an exact replacement for the lap belt, or should I just give up, buy the 2-point belt and pay someone to replace the whole belt set-up?
I've attached a couple of pictures of my current set-up to more accurately show the problem. I greatly appreciate any help or advice you can give me.
