Noises problem
1992 Other Saturn Models Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Manual 300000 miles

I am having a major problem with the Saturn. We have replaced many things on this car, the clutch, the muffler, the front and rear brakes, both front axles, both wheel bearings, and the water pump. Some of those were because the shops kept giving us estimates saying that the bearings were out or what have you and that was causing the noise. It's an extremely loud clunking/rubbing noise that sounds like it's coming from under the floor boards near the passenger side in the front. The noise has gotten worse and worse as we have tried to fix it, and now it's so bad that at times the whole car will be shaking. If you can tell me what we should generally take a look at that would be great! Now, bear in mind that we got both of the axles from the junkyard. So maybe one of those was bad? Plz help! Thanks!

Sit in the driver's seat while someone else manipulates the exhaust around to see if it is hitting the floorboards.

You can also try to brake rev the motor to see if it will do it. If it does have someone peek while your doing this.

Thanks for the help but it's definately not the exhaust because we had a whole new one put in, front to back. Muffler. Catalytic converter. All that so that's definately not it. It makes the sound when you are driving down the road. And it increases pitch with the car's acceleration. But thank you for the suggestion = ). Anymore ideas?

A rubbing/clunking that increases with wheel rpm and it causing a vibration.I would look at the passenger side cv axle based on that.
