Engine Performance problem

I'm looking at this Saturn and while test driving it it seems like the idle is fairly high. I'm shifting into 3rd at about 25MPH and into 4th at about 35MPH etc. When I put the car in neutral the RPMs stay between 2000 and 3000 (a little more depending on how fast I was going) and stays there until I'm at a dead stop, where it stays around 1500 until I'm stopped for 5-10 seconds. I'm just wondering if this is something that I should worry about before buying the car, or something that might cost me a lot in the future.
