Noises problem
2003 Saturn Ion Front Wheel Drive
----------------------------------------------------------------
My car has been making a loud noise on the front passenger side of the car. The noise sounds like a woomp woomp woomp sound and does it all the time. My steering is not affected and the braking is not affected. It's been doing it for about 5 months. Does this sound like my hub assembly needs replaced?

Raise the car and put on jackstands, grab the tire and pull it both vertically and horizontally. If there is any movement, it is the hub, control arm bushings, tie rods, or ball joints.

If there is movement, have a friend move the tire while you look for where the problem is.

Bearings will make a growling sound that starts at 35 MPH, if you turn the wheel in the opposite direction of the bad bearing, it will quite down...try that. Or if it turns out these are not your symtoms, test as noted by mmprince4000.
