Heater problem
1987 Saab 9000 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 180K miles

Heater fan blows air out of proper openings, but it's DEAD COLD, like outside air!

Both heater hoses are hot at the firewall.

The valve in the heater hose (in engine compartment) is open.

Curiously, the AC compressor short cycles while were trying to heat the car.

Thanks for any help!

Either the heater valve in the engine compartment is bad or the cable that opens and closes it is loose/ broken. Have someone move the heater control lever from hot to cold while you look at the valve.
