Their tough to get off but there's no trick. Some cars have a tab that you need to depress but the Saab 9-5 is simple: force.
The best way to do this without harming the mechanism under the wiper arm is to unscrew the bolt until it's ALMOST off. Use 2 channel lock pliers. Set the top of the plier jaws on the bottom of the wiper arm and the bottom half on the top of the nut. Tighten both channel locks at the same time. They should come off ok.
If so, reward yourself with a nice cold brew.
If you plan on resetting the position of the arms then you'd be wise to mark the current position BEFORE you take off the arms so you can then make the needed adjustment.
