I have a Sony xav-ax1000. I watched a video on how to wire up the cam. I just want to run the camera by pressing the cam button on the touch screen. It has a reverse wire hooked up but I think it's interfering or perhaps shouldn't be connected at all. The problem is the camera comes on in every gear but reverse. I can't get off the cam unless I go to reverse. I have ground in the rear and a power wire connected to the video cable power wire. Other end of video cable to rear of deck and video power wire to 12v power for the deck. Anyone know the solution?

Does the camera power and ground stay on constant when the car is in reverse? Can you upload a short video of the problem? Also it would help if uploaded an image of the wiring diagrams so we can see how the system should work.

The camera grounded in the trunk. The power wire is connected to the red wire on the video cable in the trunk. The other end of the video cable connected to the Sony xav-ax1000. The red wire with the video cable is connected to 12v red wire. The reverse in on the Sony is purple and white. I'm thinking it's wrong, but I didn't hook it up, the previous owner did. I'll include video, it goes to home only in reverse. Park, drive, and neutral it's on.

Thanks for the video, it helps. It could be the ground in the trunk is not right and maybe connected to the reverse lights which will shut the camera off, can you confirm the ground is on the sheet metal (body) somewhere? Here are the reverse light wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what you find.
