i have a '99 (t) renault megane coupe 1.6 16v. recently the cambelt snapped and bent some valves, i had the head reconditioned and fitted with new valves.

i got a "friend" who is a "mechanic" to do the job for me as i did not know what i was doing, he refitted everything and for some reason the car would not fire. he assured me the timing was right however, due to the noise the car was making i did not think it was right.

to cut a long story short it turns out that he has installed one of the camshafts 180 degrees out, despite using the timing tool he got from his place of work.

i am just wandering if it is possible this has damaged any valves again or will we jus be able to re-time the cams and hope for the bet?

thanx in advance
