2002 Renault Espace persistent engine cut out

When driving my espace the engine cuts out and I have to stop, when I switch the ignition off and then switch back on the problem clears for a while before the same happens again. This happened the last time when on a motorway and was a bit dodgy. The car is running well until the problem occurs. Yesterday it happened 4 times in a 5 mile journey and then cleared itself. I took it back to the garage where I bought it and the diagnostic result was clear. They like me are stumped. Any thoughts please?

Check clean or replace the crankshaft position sensor !
