The truck listed above is a 5500 with a 6.4L gas engine / VIN #3C7WRMCJ2LG307278. I had a P0708 code on it December 2021 and performed the below diagnostics on it then was able to clear the code, but it just came back this Saturday. I did the same diagnostics, but the code wouldn't clear this time, any thoughts?

Correction: Scanned computer and found transmission code
for the range sensor circuit showing high voltage - removed
pigtail from sensor and checked wiring and pins, also checked
sensor okay, so remounted pigtail and cleared code then test-drove
to check for code recurrence okay.

P0708 code - a malfunction with the transmission range sensor. This is a common problem here is the location of the sensor so you can change it out (below). Here is information on how to help the new sensor relearn which will help the shifting pattern.

TCM QUICK LEARN - RFE TRANSMISSIONS
The quick learn procedure requires the use of the scan tool. For scan tool step by step instructions, reference the ECM/PCM/TCM Programming document, Quick Learn section, in section 28.

This program allows the electronic transmission system to recalibrate itself. This will provide the proper transmission operation. The quick learn procedure should be performed if any of the following procedures are performed:

Transmission Assembly Replacement.
Transmission Control Module Replacement.
Engine Control Module Replacement or Reprogramming.
Solenoid Pack Replacement.
Clutch Plate and/or Seal Replacement.
Valve Body Replacement or Recondition.
To perform the Quick Learn Procedure, the following conditions must be met:

The brakes must be applied.
The engine speed must be above 500 rpm.
The throttle angle (TPS) must be less than 3 degrees.
The shift lever position must stay in PARK until prompted to shift to overdrive.
The shift lever position must stay in overdrive after the Shift to Overdrive prompt until the scan tool indicates the procedure is complete.
The calculated oil temperature must be above 60° and below 200°.

Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
