Please help. My car battery was dead after weeks of not driving my fiance told me he could jump start it but he did it wrong. The car engine sparked and smoked and produced a strong electrical burning smell. The engine is now running but the smell is still very strong and the CD player/radio unit will not turn on. The fuses all appear to be intact. I have booked it into the garage for checking on Wednesday, but I am anxious it will be an expensive job. Any ideas what has happened?

Im sorry to hear that Jenny, it too bad he didn't see this guide first

Because now any number of things can be wrong such as blown BCM. But before you take it in please check the fusible links near the starter or battery. These are links that burn up when an electrical problem has occurred. They look like regular wires only a little thinker, try to pull on them to see if they are broken.

Please let us know what happens.

Best, Ken
