The radio in car keeps stopping and starting. At most it will stay on for one to two minutes. When this happens the car display goes off and comes back on again and message says 'Please insert map DVD', even though the DVD is already in, also I can hear the DVD constantly spinning inside.

I think where I would start is by running a cleaning disc in it. It sounds like the dvd drive knows there's a disc in there and it's spinning it to try to read it. Dust on the laser lens will prevent it from reading the disc. Also check the disc for smudges, fingerprints, and dust.
