The other day, I noticed my truck acting sluggish when attempting to accelerate. I get up to the stop sign, and when I start to turn, the engine stalled and misfired. I get home, shut off the truck and go inside. Then a couple hours later, it ran normally again when I left to go to town. Later that evening (the same day) I start it and instantly noticed a rough idle. Pull out and as soon as I touch the pedal, it stalled, misfired, then ran sluggishly all the way to the store about a mile down the road. When I pulled up the the store, the truck made a popping sound. Shut it off, started it back up, and it made a popping sound again and ran like previously stated all the way back to my house.
Fast forward to today. I replaced the fuel filter and ran a high mileage fuel treatment through the tank. I instantly noticed a smoother idle and more power when accelerating, after the fix, but the truck is still rhymitically lightly popping while driving down the road, and stalling occasionally. And once again, I heard another popping backfire when pulling back into the driveway after taking it for a test drive. I have certain things in mind that could potentially be the problem, but I really need some professional help to narrow it down.
