Hi, engine management light came on and the fan stayed on. I had a mechanic come up hook it up to his computer and he did a quantity comparison test of the cylinders, and he said it was showing a fluctuating imbalance inside the engine. Any ideas what it could be? Fault codes p0300 and p1336.

Hi,

First, please understand this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so my resources are extremely limited.

Are these the only codes that were found? The P0300 is a random misfire code. That can be the result of several things and is extremely vague.

The P1336 is normally an indication that the crankshaft position sensor is failing.

I'm not sure why a compression test was done with such low mileage. However, the mechanic should have had all of the spark plugs removed. Were any of them black or wet? Has the vehicle ever had the spark plugs replaced? Also, did he explain what he meant by a, "fluctuating imbalance inside the engine?"

Let me know what happened as far as the engine is concerned other than the cooling fan turning on.

Let me know.

Joe
