Okay, so as you know my last vehicle got the fatal bottom end rod knock. This car runs perfectly. I'm told by a friend with higher mileage car the weight of engine oil should go up. I believe the car take 5w 20/30. Is it safe to change the weight to 10w 30 and do full synthetic?

Hello, I'm Danny.

I suggest to not change to 10w-30. You should stay with the recommended 5w-20 or 5w-30. Most new car engines have vvt- variable valve timing and has solenoids and valves that will not work properly with a thicker weight engine oil. I personally experienced this with a Honda Accord. The check engine light came on and engine would cut out just from not having the correct weight oil. After changing the oil to be correct the problem was solved.
