Replaced high pressure hose due to leak. Replaced LP hose and power steering pump due to age. Power steering movement on jacks okay. No power steering on ground. Steering wheel moves about 90 degrees L or R then enormous effort required to continue turning. Drove one hour no change. Informed by sales person that enclosed

Can you supply a picture of what o-rings they are talking about? If they are the pump seal pictured below then they are wrong. Even if they are correct, o rings are not going to cause the pump to stop pumping. Does it whine when you reach these points of no assist or at any point when turning the wheel?

I am not clear on if this is a new issue since you replaced these parts or was the is the issue that started all this?

Just from this information I would think you got a faulty pump. Most all of these are re manufactured so I would return it an have them exchange it.

Let us know this info and we can go from there. Thanks

No whining at any time that I have ever heard.
Owned car since 1977 new. Decided to replace pump when it was difficult to get nut off bottom of old pump and lots of contaminates inside made it logical that it would the best option. There were no problems w/steering until HP hose failed. Pump has internal reservoir.

Yep. I would not think those o rings are causing this. You are getting a loose of pressure when you turn to a certain angle. I would exchange that pump out and see what happens. That reservoir can be removed and transferred over which is why that pump that I showed has that large o ring on it. However, if it comes with a new on it, then clearly that is not needed.

Thanks.
Pump and reservoir are one unit for the 1977 6.6 liter. Brought the first purchased steering pump back this morning. Got a second one installed and running this afternoon. Works great. Thanks for all the positive comments. I agree that remanufactured pumps are hit or miss. Hopefully I have a long time hit.

Awesome. Thanks for that information. Now that you say that, I think I did look up the smaller engine. Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for using 2CarPros. Please come back next time.
