Engine Mechanical problem
1981 Porsche 911 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 100k miles

My Porsche stalls when down shifting or coming to a stop when I press in the clutch the rpms go to 0 and the engine stops. I raised the idle to about 1000rpms and this works great when starting the car and driving when I am up shifting but when coming to a stop the engine stops when I press in the clutch. Is there a vacuum leak or is the another problem?

Sounds like there may be a vacuum leak. Get the car to idle as you spray a parts wash or something flammable in a can and spray in various areas of the engine, the idle will increase and smooth out as the chemical gets sucked into the engine. Often times an intake gasket gets sucked in and that requires removing the intake manifold but thats not difficult.
