This past weekend I dumped a new engine in my '99 Pontiac Sunfire GT 2.4L. The new engine has 65,000 miles on it. I drove the car for two days and it was running like a beauty. This morning on the way to work the car took off on its own (suddenly flashbacks of the movie Christine came into play ). Even with the brake all the way to the floor the car was trying to do 60mph. I had to pull the emergency brake and turn the car off to get it to stop. The car now starts just fine but will do one of two things.
1. idle up and down constantly
2. idle up as high as it can and act as if it is two legs behind on a multi-million dallar race.
What could be the cause of this? Could it be the throttle? Im scared to drive the car, CHRISTINE has been reborn!
