2001 Pontiac Sunfire engine light

Why doies my engine not go off? Been on for 1 yr. And I can't find out why any suggestions for this problem?

May have multiple problems now from waiting so long.
You need to pull the codes from the computer to start diagnosing. Get the codes and we can go from there. This may be a simple or not so simple thing, but with out any code numbers it is 100% speculation.
