Anti theft

Engine Mechanical problem 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I changed my starter in my 1996 Sunfire and now the anti theft light is on and wont go off, and the car wont start either but will turn over. Its the only car I have so please help me.

Hi:
If the light is on, the system has shut down the ignition and fuel. It could be the chip in the key or the sensor in the steering column. The only way to check is with the proper test equipment usually only available at a dealer. Sorry, I wish I had better news for you.

If theft light is on to reset it turn the key to the on postion and then play the waiting game till the theft light goes out. Wehn light goes out turn key to off postion and then start it up and it should start right up

I don't even get a click, now. Starter is gram new and so is this problem. On have original radio theft don't have a chipped key
