2003 Pontiac Vibe issue with vibration

Hello,

I am having a problem with my car. It is a manual transmission 2003 Pontiac Vibe. When it gets to about 2000 RPM in 1st and 2nd gears (not sure about 3-5 since I am not usually at 2000 RPM when I am in those). I get a slight vibration for a moment. It is similar to the vibration you get if you let the clutch out but don't give the car any gas (but less intense). Also there is an odor coming from the car (not strong but if you put your head by the front driver's side wheel well you can smell it) that is kind of like the smell of over worked breaks (like if you rode your breaks).

Does anyone know what the issue is?
