I have a 2003 Pontiac Montana. Normally my son and I change the brakes but this last time my wife decided to take it to a shop to have it done. Since then, the service Traction control light has come on a few times, the cruise control doesn't work and there is this whining groaning noise the whole time we are driving. The manual says it may have something to do with the brakes. The shop (not a dealership) told my wife they didn't do anything they don't normally do when they change brakes. But something is definitely wrong. Any ideas or should I prepare to spend hundreds of dollars at the dealership to find out and hopefully have it repaired correctly the first time?

I have a 2001 Montana with the same problem. I put it on a ABS tester and came up with the code DTC C1218 Brake Control Relay Coil Circuit Short to Voltage. I don't know where the relay coil is but I at least now know what is wrong. The light goes on when it rains and a couple of days later it goes out. I was able to pass inspection with the warning lights on as they were not issues with the NH tests. I also have found that if you have any brake or tail lights out and they are not due to dead bulbs, if you buy new circuitboards for the tail lights and put them in yourself (very easy, it just disconnects from the taillight lens, 3 screws and swap) the light may go out and stay out (they are about $35 each online)
