Im think about buying a 2002 grand prix and the air conditioner doesnt work. When you press the a/c button it lights up but goes right back off and the air is warm. Is this a major issue? Also it has onstar but it analog. Is there anyway to replace it so that onstar will work or is all hope lost?

Take car to a qualified mechanic and have it inspected. The AC system especially.

You may have to spend a $100 bucks but if AC system has major problems, you can be looking at $1500 or more to repair.

If seller does not want you to do this, do not buy the car, unless seller agrees to a 6 month warranty (in writing), or agrees to get AC repaired.

As far as Onstar, call them (Onstar) and ask about an upgrade or if it is even necessary.
