Transmission problem
1999 Pontiac Grand Prix Automatic

Hi I just bought my moms grand prix we were driving, which we shouldnt have been but it will not drive in the drive mode we have to put it into first gear and when it gets going shift into second gear it would not go when we were going up a hill so now it will not drive and all it acts like it wants to but will not go into gear, my mom said she thought it only needed a new transmisson filter could that be all it needs I think it needs transmission fluid as well what could be wrong with the car

I would change the trans filter and fill trans fluid level to full mark (engine running).

If problem persists then it is best to take to trans shop for diagnosis.
Some are offering free diagnosis, take advantage of it and make your descision based on diagnosis.
